Why Me???

I was in my zone! I started emptying out the dishwasher, putting the others away out of the dish drainer and set to wash what was sitting in the sink. Turned on the hot water, put the breakfast dishes in the dishwasher and started filling the sink with dish soap. When I went to turn off the water the faucet broke! Of course in the on position and being 'home repair' challenged I freaked. Unplugged the sink so it wouldn't over flow and called my brother-in-law Raymond. He came right over and said "Yep, broken". He also told me the whole thing should be replaced as it is a cheap piece of junk. He doesn't know his brother, Steve will want me to get the parts to fix it. I have a feeling that I should just stay home and read a book...
ETA: I finally spoke to Steve and he left it up to me. Yes he would have just bought the parts and fixed it but he said if I wanted a new faucet it was up to me. Home Depot was the place to go to. But be prepared they had like a couple of dozen styles and models and so many choices along with that task...

Working like a mad person...

I have been working on class kits for days and finally am done with my Sesame Street book. I was up till after the newspaper was delivered this morning which was somewhere around 4AM. Now I am on to my new project, sewing curtains for Sarah's new house. Which they moved into today, which is a day earlier than everyone thought. I know that I will have a headache of monstrous proportions when I wake in the morning as I always do when I am under a lot of stress. Oh, well upward and onward as they say...

This is what Grandpa looks like...

At least in this house. Cash was really hungry and while I made a second bottle Steve picked him up to stop him from screaming. He was only mildly successful. But as soon as I arrived with the bottle Steve took over and his grandson was happy. This allowed me to finish eating my lunch that I had not been able to do once Cash started crying. He fell asleep in Grandpas arms and laid there till Steve asked for me to get him. It was quite awhile as we (Cash and I) were watching "Monsters, Inc" while he drank his bottle and since we both like the movie Steve was content to hold him for a little longer. He slept till his parents showed up about an hour later. He really is the sweetest little baby...

Busy day...

Finishing up last minute things for my class this week and class stuff for next month. Steve was feeling much better today so he is at work as I write this. We, or I should say I, watched Cash for a couple of hours last evening while Sarah and Nate finished getting the glue off the floor at the house. Sarah forgot to tell me that Cash had a bad day with teething. Yea, an hour and half of crying baby can really stress you out. I gave him some teething tablets that Camille got for me. And it eventually helped calm him a bit and it also made him sleep. Poor little guy...

Under the weather

Steve is home today. He is not feeling well. He seemed fine yesterday but sometime during the night he woke with a headache. Poor guy...

Last few days...

Seemed to have flown by rather quickly. I had my annual mammogram, a doctors check up, my card class and a whole bunch of other things going on. I watched Cash for Sarah three times last week and I have to admit I was out gunned. I had totally forgotten what having an infant was like! I was so tired at the end of those days and I only had him for three hours at the most a day. We had him again today as the kids were using some major chemicals to remove some adhesive off the floors at Grandpas. The last tenants saw fit to glue some carpet down to the vinyl, wow. The house is almost completely painted inside. The last couple of places are behind appliances and the kitchen cabinets. Steve helped them move all the boxes they already had packed in the apartment. Sarah said she now has room to pack the rest of her stuff. Which I think she will get done in no time at all. It looks like they will be all moved in by the first of the month. Lisa and Buck, I am not so sure but we shall see.
I have my Sesame Street book class this Thursday and I haven't started cutting out the stuff yet! Plus I need to get Sarah's curtains made before they move in. Awww.....
ETA: Here is a picture of a couple of the pages in the book.

Teething...

This was a picture that was taken last week. Cash was starting to get a little fussy but nothing spectacular was going on. This week is a completely different story. He spent most of the time he was here with me today, crying and chewing on anything he could put in his mouth. I resorted to baby Tylenol (which didn't seem like it worked) and baby Orajel. Poor little sweetie. I put his teething ring in the freezer to cool it down which seemed to give him a little relief. But for the most part nothing. He hadn't slept before his mommy dropped him off and he was fighting the whole sleep thing too. He fell asleep in my arms for about twenty minutes. I tried giving him a bottle but that was almost a futile effort as the pain was interfering with his wanting to drink his bottle. He started crying some more and then my friend Tami took over. She managed to get him to fall asleep. But it was short lived. He did wake in a little better mood but by the time Sarah loaded him into his car seat for the ride home he was in full all out scream. So glad I wasn't going on that trip home...

He is taking steps!!!

My grandson is already taking steps and he won't be four months old till the 21st. Heaven only knows what they are feeding this little guy but he is really making strides. And now apparently the teething part has begun in earnest also. He has been really fussy and is chewing on his fingers, clothes or whatever he can get into his mouth. Poor little sweetie, it just makes me ache that he is uncomfortable. I will have to do the 'magic' that my mother (Na-Na to my girls) used on us and my babies. She rubbed whiskey (or brandy) on their gums when they were in a lot of distress. Though I have to admit that taking it orally in large quantities by glass is my preferred method. :)

Thank you Sarah...

She has had a cold and has managed to bring her germs to our house. So now Steve and I have it. He could hardly get out of bed this morning and I have a nasty sinus headache. Steve and I stopped by Lisa and Bucks house last night. They are busy painting their bedroom and living rooms. Actually the living room is done, Lisa was putting the second coat on the hallway and Buck was finishing up their bedroom. Once that is done they will start the process of moving in. Buck has already started moving his stuff into the garage. He has quite a bit of stuff to move too so he has gotten a head start. They really don't have to pack that carefully as they are only moving a couple of blocks from the house they now live in but as packing goes it takes time. As for Sarah and Nate, they finished taping off the rest of the rooms yesterday afternoon at their new (old) house and are ready to start painting. So my guess is that Lisa and Buck will do some painting there too. I may miss out on the moving aspects of these two events as I am going to be "babysitting" if my sweet grandson allows it.
ETA: Here are a couple of before pictures of Sarah's living room.

Fun with my camera...

All though I have been feeling under the weather for the last few days I managed to have some fun with my camera while Cash was here on Friday. I spent most of the day cutting fabric up to make curtains for Sarah's house while Cash got to play with his first official toy at Grandma's. Sarah was going to help but in the scheme of things that really didn't work out. Though having her and my grand baby here was the most fun I have had in a long time. Today Steve and I went to see our niece Ella (Ray's oldest daughter) in a performance of Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors. She did really good. The acting done by home schooled students ages (11-17) was very good. Some of these kids were just naturals. After the performance we (Sarah, Nate and Cash) met at the Noodle for dinner. It was the perfect way to end the evening.
ETA:I have some great pictures of Cash and currently this one is my favorite.

This dog...

A mere few hours had passed since Sarah had taken a bunch of photos of Piper and I receive this call from my sister-in-law Annette. It seems Piper was up at their place chasing all their cats around the yard! Graham had managed to get a rope around her neck and brought her back home. I was fortunate enough to have a spare collar I hadn't taken back to the store as I had lost the receipt and Steve wanted another style still here in the house. So Graham and I struggled with the dog to put the new collar on. She had chewed the other one off or so it appears. Who knows...

They are homeowners!!!

Lisa and Buck found a cute little house just a couple of blocks from where they now live. This is all thanks to their Aunt Chris and Uncle Mike who were house hunting when they saw it. It didn't quite meet their needs but they thought of my girl and passed the info on to them. It is in really good shape considering it is a fairly old home. The gentleman that owned it had kept it up for the most part. The house needs a newer roof but Steve said they could go a couple of years or more before it is absolutely necessary. It has a nice two car garage which I think was the biggest selling point for Buck. They do want to paint the living room, hall and their bedroom as it seems too dark for them. I am guessing window treatments won't be too far behind.
Sarah and Nate are basically doing the same at Grandpa's house on 63rd. But they are fortunate enough to have Aunt Chris who is having her crew clean and ready the place for painting. I will try to get pictures taken before too long, but no promises as I have been baby-sitting my sweet grandson while his mommy does house stuff.

He flies when birds walk...

Is apparently the running joke amongst Steve's pilot buddies. It refers to Steve and his flying in inclement weather. He is trying to fly this morning. Yes it is dry here but in Hillsboro (his destination) it is SNOWING!!! Now that I look out my dining room window it is starting to snow here. He drives me crazy...

ETA: It isn't a great picture but you can get the idea. All that gray in the background is snow coming down.

ETA: He just called and said he landed safely. He still drives me crazy but I am glad he called.

Yippee...

I heard today from Sarah that my nephew Stuart (now 6 months old) is sleeping through the night. I am so happy for my sister-in-law Annette, she can now sleep for longer periods of time. Sarah has been lucky, in that Cash has been sleeping through the night for quite sometime and he is just three and half months old...

Organization class crop...

It was yesterday and we had a blast. I won a couple of prizes, a rack to hold ink pads for the Becky Higgins rail system I have and a 5X7 photo storage folder, free stuff is always good! I didn't get as much as I had hoped to get done but that is okay. I managed to finish up a couple of two page layouts that I had started but hadn't finished. I didn't like the way they were turning out so I put them aside a few weeks ago. Considering that is the wrong thing for me to do as I tend to forget what I was doing, I grabbed them to take with me to finish. I, changed some ribbon I had used on a layout because I didn't like one of the colors of ribbon I had originally used. I also started and finished (minus the photos) my Kat's Challenge for the month!! Whoo, hoo!! This is usually the last thing too get done in time for the next class. Yep, I usually am working on it two hours before class every month. Ha, ha. I also started working on the design for my next class. I am using an acyrlic album from Clear Scraps. It is going to be so cute. I will post pictures when I get more of the design stuff ironed out.

Pretty but not worth the money I paid for it...

What has become the bane of my existence is this cute little phone. It started giving me trouble and when I went to get some help they said yep, piece of junk. You will need to get a hold of the warranty service. Yea, I purchased a extended warranty for my phone and it has taken me over ten days to finally get some action. I spent an equivalent of a day it seems on the phone to apparently the wrong people. It seems Car Toys changed their warranty provider between the time I purchased my very first phone with them to a new provider last January. It came with different phone numbers of course but that was not made overly clear in my calls to "said" provider. It took talking to a supervisor and her in turn talking to the store I purchased my phone from (while I was on hold) to discover the problem. But ten days!!! I am supposed to get my phone in the next two business days, which means Monday in all likelyhood. Then to top this off I found out that my warranty service is valued at what my phone is retailed for but I only paid half that amount for the phone!! This is definitely an argument against getting these darn things...

Congrats to Nathan...

I found out this morning that our dear friend Julie's husband has gotten a job! He starts on Monday...
