I am done!!!

After sitting at my computer for the better part of the afternoon I am done. My back side has fallen asleep but whatever. I am actually giddy with the fact that this is done. I wish life was this easy... a picture of the Easter Memory box as Three Bugs in a Rug likes to call this. You only get to see the outside, you will have to take the class to see the inside or at the very least stop in at Scrapbook Fever to check it out.

Finished!!

I just finished emailing the pictures of my cards for my card class to Bud. I am just tweeking the other photos of the Easter Memory Box and will be sending those off shortly. I finished my class directions for the cards last night but I was too tired to work on the box instructions. So that is the what I will be doing this evening as I would like to have this done before we leave for the coast tomorrow. It is our annual Fordyce Family coast trip and it promises to be fun as usual. I can hardly wait.

I have my car back!!!

Yesterday Sarah and Nate returned my car. It is so nice to be able to drive it again. Not to say that I don't enjoy driving the Excursion but with the gas prices it is better if it stays in the driveway. Sarah bought a new car yesterday and she is just a giddy thing right now. It is a 2006 Suzuki Forenza and gray in color. It appears it will do it's maiden voyage to the coast this weekend for our annual Fordyce Family coast trip. Check out her blog for a picture of her car.
I am finishing my two class instruction sheets and then I have to take pictures for the website do laundry and try to get ready for this weekend. It is going to be a busy week...

Fun, fun, fun...

Spent Friday working on my cards for next months class. Saturday I spent scrapping with my friend's Anne and Camille. Today has been a weird day. I have had a headache and felt strange. You know the way you feel when you have a hangover? Just like that and I didn't drink any alcohol yesterday to feel like this, darn it. Because of the headache I can't concentrate on anything for too long, which means no reading or working on my class stuff. I have to get to the class stuff because I have to have my samples done by Wednesday to take pictures and submit them for the website. Then drop them off to the store because my card class is going to be the first week of March. Gee...

Card class, etc...

Today I did my first daytime card class and it was loads of fun. Mary, Camille, Brenda and a new student Nancy finished the cards in about an hour and half though they struggled with one of the cards. The picture is of the card they struggled with. It has an accordion type fold underneath the flower that looks complicated but really isn't. Sarah and Julie came over to the house we had lunch then they dropped me off for my class and they went to Target. After my class we headed back here and we spent the rest of the afternoon scrapping and catching up with each other. I did my usual and made brownies for the girls. Usually there are some leftover but this time with Mary's help they were all gone...

Busy day...

I spent the morning hemming pants for Sarah, meeting her, Julie and Tami for lunch and then coming home and putting kits together for my class on Thursday. And for some reason right now I am so exhausted. I can hardly stop from yawning to make this post legible. I have an appointment tomorrow to get my hair trimmed then I will be getting the rest of my housework done. Though I would rather do it the way it says on the calendar Lisa gave me for Christmas. "My way of doing housework is to sweep the room with a glance". It totally works for me...

President's Day...

Once again Steve has gone to work when the rest of the staff stayed home. This is the second year in a row he has gone to work on President's Day and found when he arrived that he was the only one who was going to appear. Oh and to fully appreciate this last year he was working for a different company! So he calls me at 8:35AM and says "Guess what?". I can't, it's too early but he repeats the question. I told him I can't just tell me and then he says "I am the first one at work, and possibly going to be the only one." Yep, sure enough in an email sent to him just after the new year that he didn't open was his holiday schedule and lo and behold he had today off. So not to waste the beautiful weather he decided to fly from Hillsboro to Independence to have lunch. He said it was a busy place...

Eureka!!

I spent the better part of two days looking for a scrapbook layout kit that I had finished but I couldn't find it. Talk about frustrating and you all know how that is, when you stop looking you find it. Well that is what happened with the darn kit, I found it about a week later and of course I wasn't looking for it. Now I have to get on the ball again and make my card samples for my March classes. Wow, it seems like I just did February's cards. I asked to have my class the first week in March so I could make some Easter cards. I have come up with a couple of really cute ones too but you will have to wait till the first week in March to see them. As a precaution against scrap lifting I don't show my cards on my blog till the week of class. This is entirely my fault in when I first started doing classes I gave my blog address out so students could look at my class samples if their copies in their kits were not really good. Now I suspect at least one student of making and selling my cards online. Oh, well that is the risk you take in this business.

Laundry day...

It is actually the one "chore" I don't mind doing. My only objection, and this really comes from my body, is that my laundry pair are in the basement. This means twelve steps up and down for an entire day while I do my wash. Most of my wash cycles are thirty minutes and drying time is fifty to sixty so things are out of sync to start with and by the time I am done my knee is killing me. I am pushing for Steve to move the washer and dryer upstairs to our breezeway. It is the small walk through area between the house and garage. It still has steps but there are only three and manageable. The whole plumbing thing is the issue for Steve and so it may never happen. If I want to be on the same floor as my washer and dryer I need to move to the basement or a new house. So in reality laundry day is the pits...

Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!!

Fifty-five years ago my folks were married in Reno, Nevada. And I would very much like to be with them to celebrate but I can't as doctors appointments are keeping me here. I am having lunch with Camille and Mary today. I know that Mary will be cooking dinner so I thought at least one meal not cooked today for her would be fun. I am picking up Noodle takeout for dinner and then we are meeting Lisa and Buck for dessert. Don't know yet if Sarah and Nate will be joining us. Steve surprised me with a Valentine's gift. I have posted the picture of my pretty new necklace.

Class, etc...

It went really well, I had three students I have never had in any of my classes before. All apparently liked the idea of classes in the afternoon, so I may start doing more classes like this. Sarah and Nate stopped by this evening to drop off her Honda Accord. She is on the hunt for a new car and is letting us do whatever we want with hers. Her car requirements run something like this; 1) it has to run in cold weather 2) four door and 3) automatic transmission, and from there she isn't that picky. I totally understand the it has to run part, the auto transmission but I didn't get the four door thing so I asked. "Cheaper insurance, Mom." I guess she did learn a few things on her way to growing up. So we have another car in our driveway till we decide what to do with it. We will be meeting the kids for dessert tomorrow evening for Valentine's Day.

Sore throat

It looks like I will be going to the doctors in the morning to get a throat culture. I have had a sore throat now going on three days and since I have heard strep is going around I am getting over to get that culture first thing. As I write this my phone is telling me I need to charge the battery and my head is pounding from the plugged head I have. I should get to bed and try to get some sleep but the minute I lay down my head really starts to pound. All I want to do is get better, is that too much to ask??? I have my accordion book class tomorrow at 1PM so I will need to get my throat culture done first thing in the AM. Here is a picture of the front cover of the book.

Bad weekend

I spent most of it either on the couch with a blanket trying to read my book or in bed sleeping. I have had one of the worst head colds I believe I have ever had. Taking cold tablets work but the side effects just don't seem to make it worth while to take them. I have a hard enough time sleeping and they just seem to amplify that problem. And let me tell you there is nothing to watch on television at 2AM unless you are looking for the phone numbers of some young half naked girls on several ads that run all night long. I started reading "The Last Precinct" by Patricia Cornwell Friday and considering I didn't think I read much I am halfway through the book. I need to go to the grocery store so while I am feeling somewhat okay at this moment I better head out as I seem to feel like this for only a short time.

Why?

We get older and more forgetful. Is this because our brains are not generating the abundance of cells it used to? I worked on a Techinque Tuesday kit last Friday and I had it in my hands sometime over the weekend but can I find the darn thing now? No. It is so frustrating. I just want the kit because it has some scraps of paper I want to use for another layout. Scraps!? I don't want to buy a whole piece of paper for this, that would just be crazy and there isn't anymore of this paper at Shelly's. So I will continue my hunt...

Still not a 100%

I have a head cold that just doesn't seem to want to leave my head!! I hardly slept at all last night thanks to a headache associated with the stuffed head. Over the counter medication only worked for like a couple of hours and that seemed to match my sleep pattern too. Now I feel like I am getting a sore throat. Just great...

It is official...

A lot more decisions were made today. I went with Lisa to the bridal showcase at the Willamette Valley Vineyards this afternoon and after talking to various vendors she has made some decisions. The wedding and reception will be held in the great room at the vineyard on the eighth of August. Initially she talked of getting married outside then going inside for the reception but after discussing various family allergies she decided to do this indoors. She does want photos taken at sunset so at least she knows what she wants from the photographer, which she hasn't decided on as of yet. But we believe we have found the floral person and the cake person. She will be doing cake tasting sometime in the next couple of weeks. We are pretty sure Buck won't be missing that particular event.

So sad

Funerals or memorial services for the elderly are hard but I have to say it is even harder when they are for children or babies. My friend Camille and I attended a memorial service yesterday afternoon for the grand baby of a friend. The parents of baby Brooklyn are very young, teens and early twenties, and though their loss is a tragic one they do have her twin sister Kalli. The babies were due in March but they (the family) knew it would be earlier because not only were these babies their mommies first, little Brooklyn they discovered had some heart issues that would require surgery. Unfortunately after the girls were born they realized that she had more health issues that could not be fixed and she passed away a little more than an hour after her birth. There are no words that could possibly comfort the family at this time other than to say how sorry you are for their loss. I will go to bed tonight like I did last night saying prayers for Brooklyn's family.
