Home Sweet Home...NOT

I did not notice last night when I came in from scrapbooking with Camille that my house was a little on the cool side. So imagine my surprise when I woke this morning to my hubby starting a fire in the fireplace. It was also then that I noticed that it was awfully cold in the room. Yep, a balmy 61 degrees. To quote Sarah in times of distress "Holy crap!" Steve said we are out of fuel. Great. The co-op does not deliver on the weekends and he just put the last piece of firewood in the fireplace. So while I go to the grocery store Steve is going to get some fuel from a tank up at his mom's. He is going to get just enough to tie us over till we can get fuel delivered. So when I left for the store and some warmth, it was 67 but when I returned a mere hour later it had dropped to 65. Steve had got fuel but the furnace wouldn't start. We had to wait and try again later as dumping the fuel stirred up the stuff at the bottom of the tank and it was plugging up the filter. I am sitting with a shop heater at my feet for warmth while I write this. Steve has also managed to get the furnace started so we are on our way to a warm house again. I am still freezing so I am not giving up the heater without a fight. I also have managed to get a nasty head cold and I feel awful. Dang...
ETA: I just read this blog entry and it is so random in thoughts, sorry it is this damn cold medicine I am taking. I really shouldn't be writing.

Organization class...

My dear friend Janet and I are taking this class. It is a Cropper Hopper class by product description but it is primarily a get organized class. We brought pictures, yea this is sad and were judged. The person with the worst mess was awarded a prize and an extra ticket for the final drawing to be held at the "Get Organized" scrap to be held next month. I am so going to need more than six weeks...

Momma Mia...

I do remember all the hype when this movie came out and I just watched it with Steve. He liked it which was a mystery to me. He likes the actress who played the daughter in the movie. She also plays a daughter in the HBO series "Big Love" another favorite of his. I, on the other hand didn't like it. It's only redeeming value was the music. I did like it, but that doesn't really say much as I liked the music when it came out...
ETA: Pierce Brosnan needs to stick strictly to acting...

Wedding stuff...

Sarah and I met at the fabric store on Thursday to look at bridesmaids dress patterns and before we knew it were looking at wedding dress patterns too. She found the bridesmaids dress pattern she liked and thought her maids would like too. We looked at fabric for the dresses and found something that might work, the color isn't quite what she wanted so we are going to keep looking. We did find fabric and lace that she liked for her dress if she decides to go that way. The girl said it would take two weeks once the order was placed to be at the store for pick up. We are thinking of driving to Fabric Depot in Portland to check out their bridal department in the coming weeks. While this was happening my grandson slept in his stroller making cute little noises...

SO I AM BIASED...

I am a grandmother after all and he is SO cute!!! I did my first stint as a "babysitter" for Cash on Monday. He managed to barf on me even before his mommy left! That is what happens when you hold babies that need to be "burped". And before I left he had a diaper blowout and a screaming fit while I was trying to warm his bottle. But the little angel also slept for three hours so I ain't complaining...

What a week...

I had a class that was cancelled due to poor signups, I only had three people show up for last nights and one for this afternoon. And it isn't just me, as the class I took on Wednesday had just two people signup and only one show up, me! This is pretty dismal showing and I think it is the "economy" showing it's ugly head in the scrapbook world. It will be interesting to see if the kits sell this weekend as there is another 'anniversary' crop being held at the Shilo. I, came home with stuff for next month's classes so I am off to work on more stuff again. Tomorrow is the craft day at the church and Sarah will be coming too. She will be bringing Cash for a bit and then Nate will pick him up and take it from there for the evening. This should be fun but I will have to do a little work while I am there. Darn it...

It's been a week??

I can't believe it has been a week since I last posted on this blog. Sometimes I wish time would go faster then I reflect on that and think "I must be crazy". As it stands now I don't have enough time in a day to do the things I want to do. Ah, yes the best of intentions. I had a class I signed up for get cancelled due to low turn out but I have two classes I am teaching this week. My Basic Grey chocolate chipboard class which is on Thursday and my card class on Friday. The kits are done and I am ready. Our first craft day at the church is this Saturday and Sarah will be joining us. I can hardly wait. This Saturday I will be working strictly on my class stuff for next month. So I will be bringing my laptop, Expression and the jukebox with my software loaded on it. This should be fun...

ETA: The pictures are of the a card my students will be making in class as well as the back page to my chipboard project.

News media...

You might get it right if you hear it locally but long distance not. Apparently the news channel that my Dad listens to said that I-5 was closed north of Portland thus trapping truckers there. To set the record straight, the interstate was closed from Chelais, Washington and north for twenty miles. Getting out of Portland wasn't a problem if you wanted to go anywhere south of Chelis, but if your goal was Seattle you were out of luck unless you decided to fly. There were other routes they recommended but they too were iffy at times according to the Washingtion Department of Transportation. The rain was causing landslides all over the northwest so sitting tight was the best option. The news said last night that Seattle grocery stores are getting low on product, gee I think it is sitting in trucks south of them. Sometimes I think news reporters wasted their money on college degrees.

ETA:They just reported on the radio that they will be reopening the highway sometime late this afternoon.

Kits are done...

That is if I don't count the instruction sheets and photos. I am running low on printer paper so I have to go back to Costco and get some. Darn I wish I had remembered that I was running low on paper when I went there on Monday. I had a make up class last night that was cancelled due to snow last month. The kits weren't complete as the vendor didn't ship some of the product. That is so frustrating for the instructor let alone the students because you plan to finish the project in class because I know if I don't, it gets put aside and then I forget what I was doing or what tips the instructor gave as part of the class to make things easier when putting the projects together. Fortunately for me it looks like all my product for my kits are here. I did have to make a substitution on the flowers for my chipboard book but that happens when you work out of your own personal stuff. It might be dated or the manufacturer has removed that item from their availability list.

ETA: Here are a couple of pictures of the cards I will be doing later this month.

Instructions are done...

Though I did take a few hours off to have dinner with my scrapping friends I managed to get my class instructions done on my book. I stopped by the store to pick up my class sample on the way to dinner because I couldn't write the instructions by looking at the photos. I stayed up late last night to get through some of it but mostly because I hadn't heard from Steve and he wasn't home when I got here. No note, and no idea where he was. Two hours after I got home I sent him a text and still no response. So I called him and he said he was on his way home. Of course by this time I was a little miffed but very glad to see him when he walked through the door. Yes, it is a guy thing to lose track of time when working on stuff (plane) but it is still irritating to us women who need to know our loved ones are safe at all times...

Finished card samples...

Yesterday I was handed the card sample kit for the Basic Grey line "Bittersweet" and oh my goodness these cards are so cute! I finished them a couple of hours ago and I am going to drop them off at the store here in a bit. I also started assembling my kits for my classes, so I have stuff everywhere and I need to put my Christmas stuff away too. Gee... Here is a picture of the first class I will be teaching...

It looks to be a busy month...

I am scheduled to teach three classes possibly four and I am taking two. I have to get with it as my first class will be in twelve days and I haven't put my class kits together let alone written up the instructions. The kit part is easy it is getting the instructions done that is going to be tricky since my class sample is already at the store. I normally write them as I make the sample but this was not meant to be a class to begin with and after the girls saw it in the store they said "It needs to be a class" so now it is. Gee, I am such a sucker for "please"....

Twenty-one...

My nephew Jesse turned 21 on Tuesday and the family got together at Boon's Treasury for dinner, drinks and merriment. He was a real good sport about all the teasing and drank all the best wishes (alcohol form) that were given to him. Sarah said later she received some "drunk texting" from her cousin. :)

A new year, a fresh start...

This is has become the chant of many people this past year. As a good many people are now in search of a job because of the economy. Many companies are downsizing, using smarter business practices and realize they can't afford to pay their employees so now their employees are looking for work. That unfortunately includes my Sarah who was set to return from maternity leave part time this next week. She stopped in to say hi at the office and to get some stuff to work on for next week when she was told she was laid off. Stunned and upset she called me. I went over to her place to console and give help in anyway I could. When I got there she was still visibly upset but seemed to have resolved somethings already and by the evening she already had some leads on new jobs. It also looks like Nate and her have figured out a way for her to work part time so she doesn't have to pay a babysitter. She is such a talented and smart young woman I think she will be just fine.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

We just got home from spending the evening at Lisa and Bucks. Sarah, Nate and Cash were already there when we arrived. Lots of laughs watching the top 100 All Time Rock songs on VH-1. Then we played Scene It, the Friends version, which Nate and Sarah won. We did have a bit to drink but the designated driver, me, stopped early in the evening. This time it wasn't me they made fun of it was Bucks turn. :)
