Finished with time to spare...

Well, sort of. I finished my card samples for the store and took the pictures. I just did the photo editing and emailed them along with a class requirement list to Bud. I have taken care of my part for next month's newsletter and website. Now I am typing up the class instruction sheet. This will take me a couple of hours as I have to try and decipher my writing. I worked well into the wee hours last night and my hand writing shows it. But I liked the results. I only redid one card and I have to say that is pretty good. Here is a picture of one of the cards.

Card crazy...

I totally lost track of the month and now it is just before the first of May and I hadn't even started on my cards for my class! I don't know why this just slipped my mind or maybe I do. I got caught up in the Flower Book class that I took from Kelly this past week. It is just so pretty and I wanted desperately to not fall behind in class so I did my homework and not my card designs. So I have spent the better part of the day designing and making my cards. I am still working on them but hope to have the samples done by tomorrow. Pictures to follow, though that won't be till the end of the month. I will give you a sneek peek at one of them...

Trying again...

I may have to switch over to a typepad account as I am having serious issues with my blogger account. They tell you to report any problems you have but there is no way to do that easily. In fact so far I haven't been able to even figure out where to post my complaint. I guess that is what you get when you get something for free...

ETA: Well I was successful posting my pictures. But I am still thinking about going to typepad as there are more options to that site. I will have to talk to Sarah and see what she thinks.

Classes...

Yesterday was a day filled with classes. I taught one and took one. It was a hectic day and now today I will fill it with scrapping with my friend Camille. Though she will be showing up later this afternoon because she is going with her granddaughter's class to the zoo. Boy, do I remember those days and yea not really able to do that anymore. Not that I don't love kids it is just that many in a confined space (bus) for an hour to and from can't do it. Between taking a class and teaching mine I had some free time so I picked out the stuff for my class in May. I tried to post the pictures of my cards but the blog site is currently having problems with loading pictures so I will try another day.

Under the weather...

I haven't been feeling too great the last couple of days thus no postings. I feel a little out of it and really cold. I hope it isn't something new to make us both sick...

Lots of laughs and scrapbooking...

Yesterday was the day for our monthly crafting day at First Christian Church downtown. Sarah, Janet and Mary were able to join us this time. We laughed, we oohed over scrapbook pages, cards and some quilting that were being worked on too. I managed to only finish two pages, one of a recent self portrait Sarah took and the other my page for Kat's challenge. The latter was what took me so long. We are supplied with a kit of paper and embellishments and a new challenge every month. This month's was to pick a picture that was colorful and that would pop off the page and also to cut at least one photo into a star or flower shape. Once I decided on what pictures I was going to use I would have thought that the rest would have been easy but no, the paper choices we were given in the kit was really tough. I am really pleased with the layout and I may tweak it just a bit with a couple of additional small tags. I haven't taken a picture of it yet but will then I will post it here.

ETA: Lisa is in Minnesota as I write this. She left this afternoon and landed at 5:30PM our time. She will be there till Saturday I believe. Columbia is opening another store this time in Albertville, I think that is the towns name...

Lunch with the ladies...

I had lunch with some of my lady friends this afternoon. Mary, Camille, Angie and a surprise guest Megan Angie's daughter. We met at Applebee's on Liberty St. We each had some chicken dish of sorts all were good tasting. We spent most of the time catching up with each other and deciding what to bring for lunch on Saturday. This weekend is the crop at the church so I will be packing my car tomorrow afternoon sometime so I won't have to do it on Saturday morning. At 3:30 I picked Lisa up and we went to talk to the videographer in West Salem. Wow, I have to say I was very impressed and so was Lisa. She is ready to take out a loan so she can spare no expenses. I can't say that I blame her after all this is supposed to be it. One marriage for a lifetime...

A sneek peek...

I have spent the better part of the day working on my kits for my card class which is next week. I printed the pictures, the class instructions and separated the materials to put into the bags. Now I just have to make sure every kit has all of its small parts, such as the die cuts, ribbons strips and stamped pieces. I hope to be done this evening...

Tax day...

I finished Lisa's taxes last night. They, Lisa and Buck, came by last night to pick them up. She actually signed them, put them in the envelopes and left them for me to drop in the mail. Which I was okay with since I had to buy postage for ours anyway. Buck was still working on his last night. These two are so funny, literally waiting till the last day when they both have refunds coming to them.

The wonders of computers...

I am working on my taxes, writing on my blog and listening to music from another blog all at the same time, thanks to the browser Steve loaded on to my computer called Mozilla Firefox. I can open several websites at the same time and can browse through them without having to close applications or having it slowing my computer down. Yet, there are times when I have contemplated drop kicking this thing out of the window but I have to admit it isn't my computers fault. I am a visual person and if I don't do something on a regular basis I forget how to do them. I know I must be wired wrong...

Cake testing...

Last night the family got together; Lisa, Buck, Sarah, Nate, Steve and I to do some wedding cake testing. I came from an appointment with Susie, the baker, at West Salem's Roth IGA loaded down with cake. Not one but four 8" cakes that were eight different flavors. One was a lemon custard and lemon mousse, another was champagne cake with strawberry and strawberry mousse, another was carrot cake and carrot with cream cheese and the last was a german chocolate and chocolate raspberry ganache. Wow, even Nate the cake man; had sugar over load. So I can wait till Lisa's wedding to eat another piece of cake...

Oh, and the winner was the lemon mousse followed closely by the strawberry champagne and the carrot cream cheese...

It helps...

Not all of the stuff I took in for scrapyard got sold but I did okay. I now have just under $75 dollars in credit which will come in handy for the VIP crop at the end of the month. I was a little surprised that not all of the cardstock and printed papers packs sold. They were a little larger packages and that may have been why. So I won't get discouraged and I will just break them down further into smaller packages and sell them that way. So much to do today and instead of doing it I have been sitting in front of my computer working on next month's classes. I need to clean my house and I can't put it off any longer. So it is just a short post today and possibly tomorrow till I get caught up. I actually told Sarah I wanted to hire a housekeeper and she laughed. Mom they would get one look and run away! Yea, I said I would have to clean up a bit first and that really made her laugh. It does kind of sound absurd now that I think about it...

My baby is having a baby...

I am still trying to wrap my brain around this news. I am also fighting the urges to buy "baby" scrapbook stuff! So my dear scrapping friends I am asking for your help. I don't need to buy any more stuff so help me hold out until our dear little one is born. This by the way will be no easy task as I just happened to see the newest Die Cuts with a View baby group, oh my goodness it is so cute! Of course, this isn't a generic baby group that you can just buy and use, it is a boy group and a girl group. So it is important to know the sex of the baby to pick one. Gee, can you imagine what I am going to be like with clothes, toys and stuff!? I am not going near any of those departments while I am shopping...

Turbo Tax...

God bless the people who developed this software, it sure makes doing the taxes so much easier. I remember how hard it was to read and understand the Paperwork Reduction Act that the federal government came up with many years ago. I hated this time of year. Steve and I paid hundreds of dollars a couple years in a row to a tax preparer because we couldn't make heads or tails out of the tax forms. When Steve figured we would pay another $400 to get our taxes done he decided to buy the Turbo Tax software. At $40 and help from their online services I did the taxes. From then on it has been little old me sorting and suffering through the paperwork so we could file the taxes. It is fairly easy for us since we sort our receipts monthly and file them in folders labeled taxes. But our children have not gotten quite there yet. Lisa is better about her tax stuff because she has student loan interest that she can deduct. Sarah does not understand the whole tax thing and admits so. So I have to remind them to make sure to keep records of anything that might impact their tax status. Since both of them will have changes in their tax situation next year I told them to keep everything. Then at the end of the year we will throw out anything they don't need. I hope I don't have to do this next year because I really don't like the stress...

Birthday present???

Sarah had her first doctor's visit yesterday. She met with the midwife this week and will meet with the doctor next week. She is nauseous at various times of the day and told her that. So she gave her some samples of different vitamins and said that if she still became sick with these that to go with folic acid and a children's multi-vitamin. They also revised her due date, a guess on their part, to November 16th. So if she has the baby a couple of weeks early it could potentially be on my birthday!!!

Good news...

Lisa picked up her veil and tiara today along with Sarah and Natalie's dresses. She told the lady that helped her that they had just found out that one of the bridesmaid's is expecting. She told Lisa they will exchange the dress for a bigger size. So now we won't worry about Sarah fitting into her dress.
