My how the time flies. What seems like a short time ago, just a year, I only had one grandson. He was and continues to be the apple of my eye. I can never get enough of holding him in my arms, though he wishes I wouldn't, and smothering him with kisses. I now understand how my mother and grandmother felt about their first grandchild. They just hold a special place in your heart.
Time spent with them and the circumstances about their arrivals in your lives makes them special. Cash was not planned, his parents were not ready for babies yet they welcomed him as if he was. The love that I saw in my baby girls eyes when she held her boy was overwhelming for me. It continues to make me tear up and be so proud of the mommy she has become.
So we skip forward to this year and Sarah had given me another grandson. Cash now has a little brother to torture and I have another boy to love on. Everett will be a year old on the 9th of next month.
My good fortune continued when Sarah's big sister Lisa had her first babies this year. Yes, twins and they are both boys who will be three months old on the 8th. I can't get over the fact that holding any of these boys in my arms sometimes feels like a dream. Steve had wanted desperately to be a grandpa and could hardly wait till Cash was old enough to go for rides on the tractor. I have to admit that I could hardly wait to take photos of that event when it did happen. It never occurred to me that that it never would.
The sadness that settles in at times can be unbearable. My only solace is to spend as much time as I can with them. So when I am not scrapbooking pictures of these wonderful little boys, I am spending time holding them in my arms. I am one lucky grandma.

My newest grandbabies...
They made their debut on the 9th of the month. They were roughly three weeks early and a bit tiny. Brayden Michael arrived at 3:32PM weighing 5lbs. 9oz and 18 1/2" long. Chayton Skye arrived a minute later weighing 4lbs. 7oz and 17 1/4" long.
Lisa actually worked that day. She was with Buck at a scheduled ultrasound when they were informed that their babies were being delivered that day. The boys stayed in the NICU till the day before they were released. Being preemies they had a little trouble learning to latch on for feeding. They were never in an incubator as they were breathing on their own and maintaining their body temps. But occasionally they would forget to breathe and an alarm would go off.
They are so tiny in comparison to Sarah's boys. Even now Everett is small but looks and feels really big when I hold him and then either of the twins. I wish Steve were here to see how wonderful his family has turned out.

Everett came to visit grandma.
I am a grandma so I will brag about my grandsons occasionally...okay maybe all the time but I can't help myself. Because after all, they don't get any cuter than this...
