Just a few more things...

All the dresses are altered or hemmed including Lisa's. All that I need her to do is put the dress on one more time so we can bustle it up if that is what she wants. I have included a picture of the dress, as you can see it did need to be shortened a bit. Now I am tired and my fingers are hurting from the sewing and unsewing (if there is such a word) so I need a break. Which I think I will get tomorrow so I can run to Costco, Bi-Mart and Fred Meyers. Wow, what a break. Then I get to clean house, whoopee...
I didn't get to do my Kat's challenge for class tomorrow but I think I will get a pass as I am the mother of a bride and we have last minute things to do.

ETA: I heard my youngest brother Larry will be making the trip for Lisa's wedding!! We are so excited it is his first visit to Oregon.

Daquiris, paper crafting and friends...

I took a break yesterday from sewing and card design stuff to celebrate my dear friend Janet's birthday. Our "group" of special ladies got together and did scrapbook stuff at the new scrapbook store in Independence called Running with Scissors. Angie went to work for them a while back and she arranged for us to have a private crop. It was filled with lots of laughs and fun. I hadn't spent any time lately scrapbooking with Sarah as she has been very busy lately. She looks great and her baby bump is growing.

ETA: The countdown has started; and we are officially thirteen days from the wedding. Yow...

Dark Knight

Steve and I went to see it last night after dinner. We don't normally go to the movies during the week let alone later in the evening but it was well worth it. I have to say that all the hype concerning Heath Ledgers performance was an understatement. He was so good that if you had not known in advance the role he played you would never have guessed it was him. Sarah even told Steve that the movie was so packed with action that the two and a half hour film seemed like it lasted ten minutes. She was right. Steve has said he wants to see it again one more time on the big screen, something he only does when he really likes a film.

ETA: I finished taking the rest of the lace trim off Lisa's dress before dinner yesterday. Hopefully she will get to come over this evening so I can measure the hemline again. Sarah will be over tonight to get her first fitting for her dress. In the meantime I need to work on my card designs for next months class. The samples have to be done by Friday. Too much going on in my life right now...

I hate beads and lace...

It took me the better part of an hour and half to remove five inches of lace off Lisa's dress. I have beads on the floor and sequins on the table and I have just started. Though I think I have finally found a quicker way to remove the lace. I now have roughly a yard and half removed but I am tired and my eyes are starting to cross so it is time to quit for the night. I need sleep...

Wedding flower freak out...

I was about to lose my mind yesterday over flowers!! But it is amazing what one day will do to change that. Lisa had lost her initial flower person and we were going to resort to doing them ourselves but my friend Mary saved the day. She recommended the woman who did the flowers for her daughter Amy's wedding. I walked in there at just after 9AM this morning and by the time I left there 45 minutes later we had flowers ordered!! Thank God for her and Mary for suggesting her. I have to say that Sarah and my friend Janet were spearheading a floral design party in the event we couldn't find someone to do them. Sarah even suggested adding a margarita party to this event. I love these gals for their go get'em attitude because it really helps. Darn now there will be no margarita party!! Anyway I now believe we have everything under control and done for the most part. I am finishing hemming Natalie's dress today then I will work on Lisa's.

I forgot...

Okay the special project I was working on was a picture board to have to display at my mother-in-laws surprise "70th" birthday bash that we had yesterday afternoon. There were well over 100 people in attendance. Steve took her to breakfast in Bend and then flew around for a bit occupying her time while the rest of us set up tables and chairs, put out linens, flowers and food out for the party. We had so much fun. I am glad that both my girls remembered their cameras as I forgot mine. I will have to grab some photos from them. In forgetting my camera it meant that I didn't get photos of the picture boards, yes, boards that I put together. I will have to go over to Norma's and get some pictures...
ETA: Oh and dinner out with the family was just a ruse. We needed for Norma to think we weren't forgetting to celebrate her birthday and therefore she wouldn't get suspicious of what we were doing.

Soooo busy....

I am working on a special project. I hope to have pictures posted no later than Sunday. Special days this weekend, Lisa will be thirty on Friday and my dear sweet mother-in-law Norma will be seventy. I think we are planning dinner out with the whole family on Saturday. This should prove to be a logistical experience. We are up to 22 family members plus two in utero. Wow....

Too much to do...

It just doesn't seem possible that we are just five weeks away from Lisa's wedding! We are trying to get things marked off a list but it seems that the list grows daily and we aren't making head way yet. Lisa is meeting with her photographer, the minister and hopefully get her dress hemmed this week. There are still the finals on the flowers, who and how many besides the bridal party. We don't have a good head count on who is attending because many have not responded with a yes or no yet. We want to be sure to have enough food but certainly not too much. I won't be hemming or doing any alterations on Sarah's dress till two weeks before the wedding so I don't have to do any last minute things to it. She is finally getting her baby bump and she looks so cute.

Hems and hems...

I am hemming three of the four bridesmaid's dresses. But it should be fairly quick. I need to clean off my dining room table real good because that is the only table I have that is big enough to sew on and the dresses won't drag on the floor. I need to get Lisa and her dress over to "The Cat's Meow" for them to hem her dress. Too much beading and I don't feel up to dealing with it. I finished the guest book just in time for Lisa's shower but I need to get it back so I can add some more pages to it. I also need to get some pictures of it as I forgot to do that...
